Community Service at QRS

Quaker Ridge students give back to the community throughout the school year by participating in a number of community service activities organized by the PTA.  The projects are worked into the educational curriculum - students learn the importance of philanthrophy and about the organizations they are supporting.  Each project is handled by a grade and coordinated by a parent volunteer from the PTA.  Through our Community Service committee, it is our hope that the PTA’s theme, “My Quaker Ridge,” will reach beyond the school into the community encouraging families to contribute their time and give back to the community in any way they can.

If you would like to get involved, please email the PTA at quakerridgepta@aol.com or contact one of the committee members directly.

5th Grade Community Service Project

This year, the 5th grade has been learning about human rights, our responsibilities locally and globally, and working for the common good.  As a grade level, the 5th Grade decided to participate in Trick-Or-Treat for UNICEF to help raise money for children in need.

We are happy to announce that this year, our fifth grade raised $1,195.45 for UNICEF.  Pretty amazing!  This is a tremendous accomplishment and a testament to our fifth graders for their willingness to help others in need.
